What is the Long Term Storage procedure for the Peak Solo Water Filter?
Avoid drying out the filter by using these long-term storage instructions. This will keep the filter at its highest performance and maintain the hydrophilic properties of the membrane, while also preventing any mold or algae from growing during long-term storage. When the membrane becomes completely dried out, it can be difficult to get water to flow through again. Follow these steps if you have already used the LifeStraw Peak Solo Water Filter and you plan to store for greater than 1 month without use.
A - Clean with bleach solution.Backwash membrane microfilter according to backwashing instructions prior to storing.
Add 1/4 tsp of household bleach to 2 Cups of water.
Use the syringe to pull and push the diluted bleach solution through the membrane microfilter 5 times. Pull the diluted bleach solution one more time, and let the filter with syringe lay on a flat surface for 5 mins. After resting, repeat the backwash procedure 5 times with clean water to wash out chlorine.
B- Immerse in salt solution
Avoid drying out the membrane microfilter by storing in a salt solution made by mixing 1 teaspoon of salt with 2 cups of water.Unscrew and remove the top cap and bottom plug cap. Connect the syringe, immerse the bottom of the filter in the salt solution, and pull salt solution into the filter. Then, disconnect the syringe, and place the microfilter inside of a sealed reusable container filled with the saline solution mixture so filter remains wet. Store the 2 caps separately.
Store in a cool dry place.
To resume use, open your reusable container and discard the excess saline solution. Then, execute the backwashing procedure with drinking water to help remove salt water.

What’s the difference between the peak personal water filter straw and the peak solo water filter?
Great question, we're glad you asked! While both filters use membrane microfiltration technology to filter bacteria, parasites, microplastics, sand and silt from dirty water, the Peak Solo will provide around 2,000L of clean drinking water and the Peak Straw provides around 4,000L of clean drinking water. The Peak Solo Water Filter is lighter and more compact at 5.1” high and weighs only 1.7 ounces, making it super portable. What does this mean? This means it boasts an enhanced flow rate of 3L/min and an easy-grip design.
