Last week, the LifeStraw team arrived in Western North Carolina to support communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. Since then, we've been working closely with local partners to provide safe drinking water to those impacted by severe flooding.
Thanks to your generous donations, we’ve been able to distribute nearly 3,000 products to provide safe water for an estimated 19,000 people per day. These include large purifier systems like the LifeStraw Community and LifeStraw 8L for people living in shelters or going to community centers for help, LifeStraw Home pitchers and dispensers for folks without access to safe water in their homes and personal bottle and straw filters for individual use.
    Â
We have been working with local fire and rescue, local community organizations and individuals that are working to reach some of the hardest-hit areas, including Yancey, Avery, Mitchell and Buncombe counties. These filters have been crucial in areas where safe water will be a challenge for months, your help has made a profound impact.
In places like Celo, Black Mountain, and Burnsville, we’ve witnessed the strength and solidarity of these communities.
People like Regina, a great-grandmother cooking meals for her neighbors every day, reminds us of the power of community.
This work is possible because of your support. Please share our donation page with friends and family so we can reach even more families affected by this disaster. You can donate here.
Thank you again for standing with us. We’ll keep sharing updates as we continue our work here in North Carolina.

LifeStraw is committed to helping communities affected by the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. The storm has caused widespread damage, catastrophic flooding, and power outages across the southeastern United States. Over 700,000 people in North Carolina alone are without power, with some areas receiving up to 29 inches of rain. As the storm continues its slow movement through Kentucky and Tennessee, millions more are at risk.
In the aftermath of natural disasters like Hurricane Helene, access to safe drinking water is essential. LifeStraw is partnering with responding organizations and local grassroots teams to deliver water filters and purifiers to the hardest-hit areas. Our mission is to ensure that families and communities have access to safe water during this critical time.
We are mobilizing resources to provide immediate relief, but we need your help to expand our efforts. Your donation to LifeStraw’s Safe Water Fund will allow us to:
- Deliver water filters and purifiers to impacted areas
- Partner with local nonprofits and grassroots organizations to reach those in need
- Ensure access to safe drinking water during power outages and water system failures
With your support, LifeStraw can provide life-saving access to safe water for families and communities affected by Hurricane Helene. Every contribution makes a difference in helping us reach those in need.
100% of donated funds go toward the cost of products and distribution of supplies. LifeStraw does not profit from your donation.
Please join us in our efforts to provide relief to those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
